His main research projects are: Growth and structural change in Portugal and Ireland, 1960-2005; Public policies in Portugal since 1986; Agriculture and economic development in Portugal since 1870; The rise of the fiscal state in Portugal, 1815-1914; and History of the Caixa Geral de Depósitos since 1910.»
