Descripción: Bienvenido Vélez Rivera is an assistant professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Puerto Rico, Mayaguez campus. He obtained his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (1999), his M.S. in Computer Science from the University of California Berkeley (1988) and his B.A. in Computer Science from Cornell University (1986). During his doctoral work, he designed algorithms for assisting users of information retrieval systems fulfill their information needs effectively. Hi continues to conduct research in Multi-lingual Information Retrieval Systems as well as in Distributed Computing Systems and Multimedia Systems. Dr. Vélez Rivera is a member of the ACM and the IEEE Computer Society.
