Descripción: «Founded in 1884, the RSGS is an educational charity whose aims are to advance the science of Geography and create a greater understanding of the wider world, in the belief that geographical knowledge makes a significant difference to the way in which we view and shape the world we live in. These aims are pursued largely through: support for geographical research and the teaching of geography; a community programme of nearly 100 illustrated talks throughout Scotland for both the Society's members and the wider public; the publication of a journal, newsletter, and occasional books and pamphlets on geographical issues; and the provision of a geographical information service drawing on the Society's extensive collections of books, journals, maps, photographs and archives.»
