Descripción: «The Edinburgh Bibliographical Society claims to be the oldest continuing society of its kind. The founding meeting was held on 16 January 1890 when Archibald Constable was elected the first President. Its original aims were: The discussion and elucidation of questions connected with books, more especially Scottish. The compilation of special lists with a view to the formation of a complete Scottish Bibliography. The noting of books printed in or relating to Scotland which are not to be found in the Edinburgh Public Libraries. The exhibition of rare or remarkable books, printed or in manuscript; The occasional issue of selected papers, reprints, and facsimiles.»
