	La Comisión Científica del Pacífico (1862-1866)

La labor de estos comisionados –sobre todo de los cuatro que hicieron el periplo en su totalidad: Martínez, Espada, Almagro e Isern - fue encomiable. En la memoria que le encargó redactar el gobierno a su regreso a España el cronista de la Expedición, Manuel Almagro (1866), da cuenta, no sin cierto orgullo, del botín adquirido: un total de ¡82.465 objetos de historia natural! que en la actualidad están custodiados por el Museo Nacional de Ciencias Naturales (CSIC) y el Real Jardín Botánico (CSIC).» España
