«The first original aspect of France's participation in the forty seventh Venice International Art Biennale lies in the decision made by the Association Française d'Action Artistique to appoint, on the proposal of a committee of leading figures from the art world, an artist who has been left to organise his own project and select his own team of collaborators, rather than, as in previous years, an official curator. Fabrice Hybert, an artist who for ten years has been exploring the entire range of visual arts (drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, prints, performance art, installations, video, industrial production etc.) plans to involve a variety of media (film, paper, canvas, clay etc.) both inside the french pavilion and in the immediate vicinity.»
