«Yellow-winged bats range across much of Africa south of the Sahara Desert. These bats live in forest and savannah environments, but seem to prefer open habitats where they can observe their surrounding from roost sites. Like other members of the family Megadermatidae, these bats hunt for insects from their perches much as flycatchers do. The bat hangs from a branch in a tree and continuously scans the surrounding airspace for insects using echolocation (sonar).»
