	One Hundred Aspects of the Moon: Japanese Wood Block Prints by Yoshitoshi
		Museum of International Folk Art. «Yoshitoshi’s series, One Hundred Aspects of the Moon, completed shortly before his death in 1892, epitomizes the restraint and subtlety that define his later work. Against a backdrop of a national policy of westernization during the rule of the Meiji emperor (1868-1912), Yoshitoshi offered his audience a pilgrimage to Japan’s glorious past. Published between 1885 and 1892, this series of 100 individual woodblock prints depicts figures from Japanese and Chinese legend, history, literature, folklore and theater. 	Orazio Gentileschi in Genoa: Paintings for the Palazzo Sauli
		John Paul Getty Museum. «The Italian painter Orazio Gentileschi (1563?1639) was the most innovative follower of Caravaggio (1571?1610), whose emphasis on realism and dramatic lighting revolutionized painting in the early 1600s. Gentileschi adopted Caravaggio's methods, including the practice of working directly from posed models, but he tempered realism with his own lyrical sense of beauty.» Italia

	Pablo Picasso
		Centre Pompidou. «Le parcours artistique de Picasso est l’un des plus riches de toute l’histoire de l’art du XXe siècle. Tour à tour enfant prodige, peintre maudit, artiste mondain, sculpteur, graveur, céramiste, il collabore à presque tous les grands mouvements et tendances qui ont contribué à redéfinir les pratiques artistiques. Au début du siècle, il invente en compagnie de Georges Braque de nouvelles conventions picturales pour représenter l’espace de la perception, le cubisme. Dans les années 20, il participe au mouvement de “retour à l’ordre” qui réévalue l’héritage académique, puis renoue avec les avant-gardes en se rapprochant du surréalisme, auquel il apporte de riches innovations dans le domaine de la sculpture. La plupart des églises, d'origine romane, ont été agrandies aux XVIe et XVIIe siècles. Certaines furent, à cette occasion, embellies intérieurement. Murs, voûtes en maçonnerie ou fausses-voûtes en bois furent ainsi couverts de décors peints. Il reste aujourd'hui de magnifiques oeuvres pleines de détails pittoresques où des archaïsmes stylistiques savoureux traduisent parfois une iconographie tout à fait originale, qui, en dépit de leur date, accusent encore des caractéristiques médiévales.» Francia
