«How does the art of the past inform and inspire the art of today?
The J. Paul Getty Museum decided to address this compelling question by inviting eleven outstanding Los Angeles-area artists to explore the Getty's collections in search of points of departure for their own work.
This exhibition presents the results of that exploration: new pieces in a wide variety of styles and media created by John Baldessari, Uta Barth, Sharon Ellis, Judy Fiskin, Martin Kersels, John M. Miller, Rubén Ortiz Torres, Lari Pittman, Stephen Prina, Alison Saar, and Adrian Saxe.»
