Descripción: Canada's Digital Collections. Government of Canada.
«...is the first exhibit in which the voice of First Nations people is used to describe drawings, paintings and prints which were created by Emily Carr, Walter Phillips, A.Y. Jackson, George Pepper, Langdon Kihn and F.M. Bell-Smith. This voice, through first-person testimony and anthropological records provides context for the artworks and corrects some misinterpretations unwittingly introduced by the artists.
Further, the exhibit incorporates historical photographs, taken before and during the years these artists painted, which provide new insights into the depiction of Northwest Coast monumental sculpture during the first three decades of the 20th century.»
