«Welcome to Metepenagiag, New Brunswick's Oldest Village. Located on the Northwest Miramichi river, Metepenagiag (meh-deh-b'nag-ghee-agh) has been home to the Mikmaq people for the last 3000 years. Since 1975 over one hundred archaeological sites have been discovered in the immediate area. Two sites, the Augustine Mound and the Oxbow site, have been declared National Historic Sites.»
