The Bioengineering and PharmacoClinical Research Group (Centro de Bioengenharia e FármacoClínica - CBFC), is a R&D unit in life sciences and bioengineering aiming at a high standard of education and research in advanced biotechnology and pharmaco-clinical science. The unifying rationale for the research carried out at CBFC encompasses the essential understanding of the mechanisms at the molecular, cellular, and tissue level, in order to translate them into rational applications of biological systems relevant to the industrial and health care sectors. The strategic development of CBFC requires the integration of a number of scientific and engineering disciplines: molecular and cell biology, biochemistry, enzymology, pharmaceutical chemistry, clinical analysis, metabolic engineering, bioreactor and process engineering.»
