«UnICA is comprised of three themes areas: Music, Sciences and Technologies of Communication, and Design.
The Research Unit on Communication and Art portends the board subject area of Communication as its general approach, while investigation in the main areas comprises its Content.
The investigation projects of UnICA, whether of a pure, applied or development nature, will embrace human, technological, and artistic dimensions.
UnICA has as its chief aim to be a centre for investigation, as well as a school promoting interaction with and reflection on the communication phenomena in the three areas mentioned above. Concurrent goals include the emphasis on education at three levels (undergraduate, post-graduate, and continuing education) cultural extension, and producing an impact on business.
Another objective UnICA of is to give relevance to the scientific values inherent in the department of Communication and Art of the University of Aveiro, thereby generating analytical and productive contributions for an Information Society of Arts and Culture»
