«The building was purchased by a private company in 1990. After careful restoration based on extensive historical, architectural and archaeological evidence, some of the later additions were removed returning the building to its original splendour.
Examples of the restoration work include the coloured wooden ceiling of the upper salon, whose existence had been described in a document of 1888. It was supported by a wall about to collapse and this had to be demolished and rebuilt. Another is the turret lookout above the upper floor which appears in a photograph of 1859, and which was reconstructed in 1998.»
